Farmers in the Montana region harvested three times less corn this year compared to last year, reported Bulgarian National Radio, citing data from the regional "Agriculture" directorate. The average corn yield in the region, with 85% of the fields harvested, is 126 kilograms per decare, while last year farmers harvested an average of 397 kg per decare. This year in Montana, the highest corn yields were in the Medkovets municipality – an average of 200 kg per decare, and in the Yakimovo municipality – 160 kilograms per decare. The reason for the low corn yields is the drought. Out of the 385 thousand decares sown in the Montana region, 7500 combines did not enter due to the lack of cobs.
