The first shipment of Chilean table grapes to the United States via the Systems Approach, a protocol replacing methyl bromide fumigation with source mitigation measures, arrived at the Port of Philadelphia in late December 2024. This initiative is expected to enhance the fruit's quality and make Chilean grapes more competitive in the US market. The Systems Approach is currently used in a significant portion of the grape-growing regions in Chile, with expectations to expand its use in the future. The first season's reception of the grapes has been positively received by importers, and the industry aims to export about 56,000 tons under this approach. Despite facing logistical challenges, the overall reception and condition of the fruit have been commended.
