Fishermen in Cifuncho, Antofagasta Region, have successfully harvested their first batch of oysters and oysters, marking a milestone in the development of their cove for productive and commercial purposes. The Undersecretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Alicia Gallardo Lagno, commended their efforts and the sector's adaptation to climate change and productive diversification. The harvested shellfish were sold in Tongoy, and the cove is also home to a new desalination plant that provides 8,000 liters of drinking water daily, powered by solar energy.
