Apricot season has begun in Ukraine, with early batches hitting the market despite reduced yields due to spring frosts. The warm and sunny weather that advanced the bloom time by two weeks in the southern parts of the country led to the frosts causing significant damage to the stone fruit crop. Despite the early start, which is on average a week earlier than the previous year, farmers are already worried about the rest of the season. Apricots are currently available at prices that are on average 32% lower than last year.
