Farmers in Malatya, a city famous for being the world's largest apricot producer, have begun the autumn pruning process. This annual practice involves removing dry and weak branches to improve tree health and fruit quality. Approximately 9 million out of the 22 million apricot trees in Turkey are located in Malatya. Last season, Malatya's apricot sales reached 115 countries, generating over $398 million. The pruning process, done to extend the tree's life and improve fruit quality, is done by pruning about 25-30 trees daily, with the branches used as winter fuel.
