The Government of Aragon is emphasizing the significance of the fruit and vegetable sector to the region's economy, particularly during the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables declared by the FAO. This sector is Aragon's second largest in the agri-food industry, with an annual contribution of 134.2 million euros and employing 7.6 percent of the country's agricultural production. Aragon leads in the production of sweet stone fruits, especially cherries and peaches, and is promoting integrated treatments and the Calial seal in the fruit sector. The region also has a prominent dried fruit sector with unique almond varieties. The Government is implementing measures to boost the sector, such as initiatives in schools and collaborations with various organizations.
