The Los Pueyos Cooperative in Alcañiz, Teruel, has participated in the Transfer Days organized by the Arax Network, showcasing the successful development of barley, triticales, oats, and chickpeas under optimal climatic conditions that have kept diseases at bay. Conducted in a semi-arid climate, the trials have seen positive results with 20 barley varieties, 19 triticale, and 15 oat varieties, focusing on drought resistance and rust resistance. This year's trials have also seen success with chickpeas, marking a novelty in the ongoing experiments to study the long-term evolution of this crop.
Despite some challenges like septoria in oats and helminthosporium in barley, these have been effectively managed by wind and specific treatments. The trials are designed to provide valuable insight and assistance to local farmers, enabling them to make informed decisions about which crop varieties to use based on their performance and characteristics.
