While Bulgaria already counts nearly 160 outbreaks of sheep and goat pox, over 18,000 destroyed animals, and costs to taxpayers exceeding 12 million leva, livestock farmers have found themselves facing a new absurdity – pressure from dairy processors to sign declarations "against vaccination." The threat is simple: "If you don't sign – your milk won't be bought." Or so claim people in the industry. However, if we assume this to be true, doesn't it mean that certain people are trying to eliminate the last hope of controlling the disease? Because each signed declaration, in our view, means one thing: more herds that will be euthanized, more families that will be left without a livelihood, and the virus will continue to conquer new territories.
