Argentina has started exporting pork to Uruguay, initially shipping chilled pitted pulp at a value of $2,500 per ton. This move comes as Uruguay's imports from Brazil, its main supplier, are affected by floods. The deal was negotiated by Argentina's Secretary of Bioeconomy, Fernando Vilella, and Uruguay's Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries, Fernando Mattos. Three refrigerators have been authorized for exports from Argentina, with potential for more to be added. The Argentine government highlights the genetic quality of its pork and expects it to be well-received in the Uruguayan market.
