Argentina authorizes the exports of pork, poultry, and beef to the Philippines

The Philippine government has recently recognized the equivalence of the Argentine agricultural control and certification system, SENASA, opening up the opportunity for Argentine establishments to export their production to the Philippines. This development is anticipated to foster greater trade relations between the two countries, particularly in the agricultural sector. In 2023, the Philippines experienced a significant surge in meat and by-product imports, reaching over USD 1.75 billion, with a notable 17% increase in imports from the early months of the year compared to the same period in the previous year. This landmark achievement follows intensive negotiations among various government agencies and embassies from both countries, aiming to provide Argentine producers with access to a rapidly expanding market. A 15-day period has been set for the finalization of market access procedures, during which time Philippine health authorities will evaluate Argentine veterinary certificates and potentially approve new Argentine establishments for export.
