Argentine pork consumption has doubled in the last 12 years, reaching 17 kg per inhabitant in 2024, reflecting a trend towards diet diversification and a thriving supply. Pork production in Argentina has seen 14 years of sustained growth, with a projected record production of 785 thousand tons in 2024. However, pork exports, which represent only 2% of production, depend heavily on demand from China. The Argentine Carbon Neutral Program offers a way for local products to become more attractive abroad by neutralizing carbon emissions from production processes. The program was recently implemented for the pork sector and aims to position Argentina as a benchmark in environmentally conscious pork production.
