Argentina's participation in the China International Exporters/Imports Fair (CIIE) underscores the country's dependence on China as a trade partner, with China receiving over 70% of Argentina's meat exports since 2018. In September 2024, Argentina exported 16,600 tons of bone-in bovine meat and 32,700 tons of boneless beef to China, valued at 24 million and 109 million dollars respectively. Despite a drop in meat prices by up to 25% over the past two years, a slight recovery of 200 dollars per ton was observed after the May fair, benefiting the cow category. Argentina is actively competing against other global suppliers like Australia and the US by promoting high-quality Argentine steer meat, with the goal of making Argentine meat a preferred choice in the Chinese market.
