Argentina's government is seeking to increase earnings from countryside productions by enhancing exports, especially in the agricultural sector. A study by Jorge Brunori highlights a potential opportunity in increasing pork exports, as the country currently accounts for only 0.18% of the global pork trade. From 2010 to 2023, Argentina's pork production averaged 474,918 tons annually, with only 3.1% exported. Neighboring Brazil and Chile outperform Argentina in pork exportation. Brunori suggests that Argentina's agroecological conditions could make it more competitive in pork exportation if the agroindustrial sector processed corn and soybeans into higher value products. Despite the potential, pork export income only reached $308,276,000 in the 14-year period.
