Argentina stopped being the main exporter of soy meal in the world after 25 years

Argentina lost the leadership in soybean meal exports worldwide. After a quarter of a century, the lower volume of production caused the country to fall to second place. The drought was the main culprit of this situation, which generated lower grain production. As a result of La Niña, soybean meal production falls, while sunflower production recovers. In 2023, the country would occupy second place as the main exporter of soybean meal. In this sense, Argentina stands out as the fourth largest producer in the world, with only China, the United States and Brazil above it. Fifth place is occupied by the European Union. The Rosario Stock Exchange (BCR) reported that Argentina's participation in local production totaled 30.3 million tons for the 2021/22 campaign.
