Entities representing the entire Argentine agri-industrial chain sent a letter to national deputies to prioritize "the allocation of full own resources for Senasa given its relevance as the leading state body for animal, plant, and food safety and the sole entity that certifies Argentina's agri-industrial exports to all international markets." A total of 36 entities representing all the value chains of the country's agri-industrial sector – and generating most of the genuine foreign exchange in the Argentine economy – expressed that Senasa "is undergoing a process of reduction of suitable personnel by more than 600 officials, out of a total staff of approximately 5,300." The number, according to the latest available data corresponding to last September, actually amounts to 5,330 workers in the health agency, of which 4,856 are staff with a collective agreement and 474 with another employment regime.
