REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, along with the President's Special Envoy for Youth Development and the Arts, Raffi Ahmad, reviewed the site for the saline tilapia farming (BINS) model in Karawang, West Java. Trenggono directly introduced the innovation in saline tilapia farming, which is a concrete step by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) in revitalizing traditional ponds into modern ones with export-oriented harvests.
During the visit, Raffi Ahmad was accompanied by his colleagues from The Dudas-1 group, namely Ariel Noah, Gading Marten, and Desta. Through the BINS pilot program, Trenggono hopes that modern fisheries farming can continue to grow and become a new job field, especially for the younger generation.
"Through the development of the saline tilapia model in Karawang, the KKP aims to make this area a real example of the implementation of the blue economy, namely the development of environmentally friendly, inclusive, and sustainable marine and fisheries sectors..."
