Mexico's asparagus production in 2021 reached 301 thousand tons, marking a 10.4% increase from the previous year and the highest in recent years, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. With a peak harvest from December to April, 70% of the supply was available in the country. Concentrated in states like Sonora, Guanajuato, Baja California Sur, and Baja California, asparagus is Mexico's third-largest global crop, accounting for 30% of the worldwide total. The United States was the primary export destination in 2020, along with Spain, Chile, Japan, Belize, the United Kingdom, Panama, Hong Kong, and the United Arab Emirates.
