Russian farmers have seen a significant shift in the use of domestically bred seeds, with sunflower seed usage increasing from 30% to 43% and sugar beet seeds from 3% to 8%. This change is attributed to the success of adopted quotas, which aim to regulate the seed market and support domestic breeding and seed companies. As a result, these companies have expanded seed crop areas and increased production for the 2025 sunflower sowing season, meeting 74% of the market demand. However, the use of domestic corn seeds has not significantly changed due to balance issues between demand and supply, as well as a reduction in commercial corn sowing. The situation is further complicated by counterfeit seeds and smuggling, although there are plans to increase the use of domestic corn seeds to 60-70%. Meanwhile, Russia's sunflower harvest has decreased by 4.6%, and corn harvest has decreased by 28.3%.
