In June, there was a noticeable fluctuation in the prices of various agricultural products both in the market and among producers, as highlighted by Şemsi Bayraktar, Chairman of TZOB. The market saw a drastic decrease in watermelon prices by 72.97%, while producers experienced a significant drop in watermelon prices by 75.18%. On the other hand, red lentils saw price increases of 65.08% and 9.15% in the market and among producers, respectively, due to scant supply and the end of the previous season. Other products such as potatoes, dried apricots, and olive oil also experienced price hikes due to various factors like drought, insufficient supply, and the approaching new season. The surge in prices for some products and the decrease in others are largely attributed to changes in harvest yields and weather conditions, particularly the exceptionally hot May weather reported by the General Directorate of Meteorology, signaling the severe impact of drought on agricultural production.
