The 2024/25 marketing year (MY) for the Kazakh grain market has seen a notable increase in barley exports, with September marking the start of this surge. The main importers have significantly boosted their purchases, led by China, followed by Iran, and Uzbekistan, with China's imports reaching a record 926 thousand tons in the previous MY. This increase comes after Kazakhstan experienced a slight reduction in barley supplies to foreign markets in the 2023/24 MY. The KAZAKH GRAIN & LOGISTIC FORUM 2024, to be held in Astana on December 5-6, aims to discuss global and local grain market trends, with a focus on China's role as the largest grain importer and its impact on Kazakhstan.
