Australia saw sharp increase in chickpea and lentil exports in May

In April-May, not a single ton of chickpeas was shipped to India from Australia, although the bilateral trade agreement provides for a 50% duty reduction for 150,000 tons of chickpeas per year. The largest buyers of lentils in May were: Bangladesh (27,938 tons), Sri Lanka (14,896 tons) and India (3,515 tons). From January to May, Australia exported 96,648 tons of chickpeas, including 45,791 tons to Pakistan, 33,000 tons to India, 6,884 tons to the UAE.
