In the first four months of 2021, Australia witnessed a notable shift in its coffee import market, with a 26.5% increase in volume and a 26.8% increase in value compared to the same period in 2020. Brazil's coffee exports to Australia saw a significant rise, reaching 9.7 thousand tons valued at $27 million, thereby increasing Brazil's market share to 27% from 23% in the previous year. Conversely, imports from Vietnam experienced a decline, dropping by 26.3% in volume and 29.8% in value, reducing Vietnam's market share to 13% from 19.02%. This change highlights the dynamics of Australia's coffee market, the world's largest, where consumption is expected to grow at an average rate of 2.19% per year from 2021 to 2026, with Australia ranking among the top 30 coffee-consuming nations. The COVID-19 pandemic has influenced consumer habits, leading to a surge in home brewing and a growing preference for instant coffee due to its convenience.
