In February, Australia witnessed a significant surge in its exports of chickpeas and lentils, as reported by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Chickpea exports increased by 44 percent from the previous month, totaling 53,818 tonnes, with the primary markets being Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Bangladesh, although this represented a decrease from the exports in February 2023. On the other hand, lentil exports jumped by 61 percent from January, reaching 128,620 tonnes, with India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka being the top destinations. Despite these increases, the lentil exports in February were still not as high as the record set in February 2023.
