Brazilian businesspeople have closed deals worth US$3.25 million at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo 2024, expecting to raise an additional US$11.25 million by the next event, for a total of US$14.5 million. The deals were made through the "Brazil. The Coffee Nation" project, a partnership between the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA) and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil). The project aims to commercially promote Brazilian specialty coffee internationally, focusing on quality, diversity, and sustainability, and targets markets such as South Africa, Australia, China, and the United States. The coffee consumption in Australia was estimated at 2.1 million bags in the 2022/23 harvest, with 75% of Australians consuming at least one cup of coffee per day.
