In the first half of 2024, Austria experienced a 10% increase in breeding cattle exports, with absolute numbers reaching nearly 17 thousand. Turkey emerged as the largest importer, purchasing 8,500 cattle, a significant increase of 5,100 from the previous year. Italy followed as the second most popular destination with 3,000 cattle sold. However, there was a sharp decline in Algeria's imports. The majority of the exported cattle (85%) were of the Simmental breed.
