From 2019 to 2023, Eastern Europe saw a 28% rise in fruit and vegetable imports, totaling $10 billion, with sweet potatoes, avocados, and blueberries leading growth. While some segments have stabilized, opportunities exist for new market niches, especially for suppliers from Egypt and Morocco. Imports often pass through re-exporting countries, possibly underrepresenting Egyptian and Moroccan products. Sweet potato imports doubled, with Egypt competing against the US and Spain, and Morocco emerged as a key blueberry supplier. Avocado imports are close to 100,000 tonnes, with Morocco tripling its exports. Egyptian and Moroccan exporters are invited to a trade mission in Warsaw to engage with Eastern European buyers.
