Turkey's Alanya Almond Avocado Producers Union aims to produce 70 million avocados in 2020, up from 50 million in the previous year, with plans to export 15 million units, a increase from the 10 million exported last year. Alanya alone will contribute over 70% of the country's production, covering 4,500 hectares. The country currently exports to Ukraine, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Russia, and is in talks with several other European countries to expand its markets. Avocado producer Mehmet Zeybek is optimistic about the market, citing increased demand and prices since the pandemic.
