[Hankuk Nong-eom Sinmun, Reporter Seo Sang-hyeon] A technology utilizing AI (artificial intelligence) and imaging technology has been developed to detect defective red pepper powder in a non-destructive, non-contact manner. The World Kimchi Research Institute (Director Jang Hae-chun) announced on October 27 that it has developed a technology that combines hyperspectral imaging technology and AI technology to determine the presence of defective ingredients in red pepper powder. According to the announcement, existing methods for inspecting defective red pepper powder can achieve high accuracy but destroy the sample and take more than 1-2 days for analysis, which limits real-time field inspections and mass sample testing. To address this, the World Kimchi Research Institute has developed a technology in the short-wave infrared region of hyperspectral imaging.
