Kenya Airways successfully completed its first flight, 50% consisting of sustainable aviation fuel, on the Nairobi-Cape Town route, the airline announced on October 23. SAF, produced from hydro-treated esters and fatty acids feedstock, including waste cooking oil, was verified in accordance with recognized certification systems to ensure traceability and transparency. The flight was operated using a mass balance system, in line with the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation and the Book & Claim principles of the International Air Transport Association. "This flight demonstrates what can be achieved through collaboration and innovation.
