(Agraria.pe) Between January and July of 2025, Ecuador's banana exports reached 227.72 million boxes (of 18.14 kilograms) which represents an increase of +4.77% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to data from the Coordination Office of Statistics of Acorbanec. The European Union remained the main destination for the Ecuadorian fruit, accounting for 30.99% of exports, followed by Russia (19.24%), the Middle East (14.29%), the United States (13.17%), East Asia (6.73%), and the Southern Cone (6.64%). In this latter bloc, Argentina stood out with a 26.97% increase in its imports. The report also highlights a significant growth in shipments to China, which registered an increase of 37.67% in this period, driven by the drop in local production and climatic and phytosanitary problems in other supplier countries such as the Philippines, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
