Uzbekistan's banana imports in 2023 decreased by 5% to 133.5 thousand tons, compared to 140.2 thousand tons in 2022. Despite the decrease in volume, the total value of imports increased to $95.1 million in 2023 from $63.4 million in 2022. Ecuador was the leading exporter to Uzbekistan in 2022-2023, with China, Georgia, Türkiye, and Kazakhstan also being significant contributors. To control inflation and maintain price stability, Uzbekistan has extended the zero import customs duty on certain food products, including bananas, until January 1, 2025.
