In Dhaka, Bangladesh, beef prices are fluctuating significantly, with some vendors selling as low as Tk595 per kg and others charging up to Tk750 per kg. Some shops are even offering beef at two different rates simultaneously to attract low- and middle-income individuals, especially during Ramadan. Despite this, the majority of traders are selling beef at prices higher than the government-fixed rate. The Bangladesh Dairy Farmers Association (BDFA) has criticized these high prices, stating they are unjustified as cattle prices at the farm level remain normal. The BDFA is advocating for lower beef prices to attract more customers.
