In Tinogasta, Catamarca, a project backed by the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) is aiming to enhance the beekeeping sector, benefiting 26 families and fostering local development. The initiative aims to formalize an agro-industrial cooperative, enhancing honey production, re-valuing hive products, and promoting community cohesion. Argentine beekeeping has seen significant growth, with the country being one of the leading honey producers and exporters in the world. This sector is vital for family farming and regional economies, offering employment and contributing to the economic stability of communities. The project focuses on knowledge sharing, formalization, access to financing, and commercial channel development, with initial successes in increasing profitability and primary production revaluation.
