Vasil Vasilev has been actively engaged in beekeeping for three years. Professionally, he works in the field of offshore wind turbines – those located in the sea, throughout Europe and Asia. Why did you decide to practice beekeeping? My interest in bees began three years ago, although I had long considered engaging in this activity. Initially, we took two or three hives for personal use, as my family is a large consumer of honey and bee products. Gradually, this grew into a real passion. Currently, I am raising 55 bee families, and this year I plan to increase their number to 120–150. We also have longer-term development plans. What is interesting about you is that your apiary is located near wind turbines. Since when has it been like this? Since its inception, the apiary has been in the vicinity of a wind farm – about 400–500 meters away. The turbines have been here for 17 years.
