The Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association (UPOA) has announced significant developments in the agricultural sector, with a focus on the trade of apples and cabbage. Due to increased demand in Russia, following a crop failure, and the traditionally high volume of trade through Belarus, these commodities have seen increased supply in Ukraine, leading to a plateau in prices and concerns about oversupply. The Belarusian government's decisions have not impacted Ukrainian onions, but there are concerns about potential restrictions on strawberries and blueberries if the political situation with Belarus remains tense. Long-term, these restrictions could push Ukraine to improve its agricultural standards to meet export requirements of Europe and Asia. The UPOA's president has suggested learning from Georgia's experience of successfully exporting to European markets after a trade ban from Russia.
