The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in Korea has certified 44 pig farms and 24 dairy cow farms as low-carbon, with a goal of increasing this number to 221 by the end of the year. These farms have reduced greenhouse gas emissions by an average of 29% and 18% respectively, using carbon reduction technologies and efficient manure management. The certified farms will sell their products with a low-carbon certification mark, and the government will support their distribution and marketing. From 2025, farms will be eligible for carbon reduction incentives for improvements in composting facilities, livestock manure treatment, and feeding of nitrogen-reduced feed. Consumers are encouraged to support low-carbon certified pork, milk, and dairy products to help address the climate crisis.
