"Black truffle is no longer only Europe's heritage," Buenos Aires residents celebrate, after a new edition of the festival

During the weekend, the fourth edition of "Trufar", the already popular Black Truffle Festival, was held in the Buenos Aires town of Espartillar, Saavedra district. As every year, the event aimed to highlight and boost an emerging production with high added value such as truffle cultivation, through which Argentina can position itself in the most demanding global markets. The event, which highlighted the benefits of truffles – an underground fungus (Tuber melanosporum) considered the "black diamond" of gastronomy – was attended by the Minister of Agrarian Development of the province, Javier Rodríguez; the Government Secretary of Saavedra, Mariano Mansilla; and the president of Trufas Del Nuevo Mundo, Juan Carlos La Grotteria, one of the pioneering ventures in that productive sector.
