The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) reported this Friday, the 10th, that it has approved a financing of R$ 250 million to the cellulose producer Suzano. With resources from the Climate Fund, the credit will be allocated to the ecological restoration of 24,304 hectares of degraded areas in permanent preservation and legal reserve regions in the Cerrado, Atlantic Forest, and Amazon biomes, according to the development bank. "BNDES has been articulating and promoting forest restoration as a crucial tool to combat the climate crisis, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and promote sustainable development, which is a priority of President Lula's government," emphasized BNDES President Aloizio Mercadante in a statement distributed to the press.
