Bulgaria has the potential to increase its vegetable protein production, according to its Minister of Agriculture, Hristo Bozukov. The country has a strong tradition in this field and leads in the production of fodder peas and legumes. However, a decline in production occurred after 2018 due to a lack of market for soybeans and other protein crops. At the 'Three Seas' initiative summit, ministers discussed the potential for feed protein production in the region and the impact of the Common Agricultural Policy on the transition of agriculture towards a green and digital economy. Bulgaria also plans to establish a fund to promote the technological and ecological transition of agriculture.
