A recent market report by Cepea states that Brazil is experiencing a beneficial period for those purchasing calves and lean cattle. The average weight of calves in Mato Grosso do Sul has risen to 208 kilos, a significant increase from 174 kg in December/19. Despite this, calf prices have been decreasing, with male lean cattle values dropping by 6% in the first four months of 2024. Despite these price movements, lean cattle values have remained around BRL 3,000 in major feedlot regions. In April, Brazil's daily average beef shipments exceeded 10 thousand tons, totaling over 155 thousand tons, making it the second-best month of April on record for beef shipments.
