In November, Brazil's rice exports and imports experienced significant declines compared to the previous year, with a 20% drop in export volume and a 9% decrease in revenue, reaching 111.8 thousand tons and US$ 51.3 million respectively. Import volume also fell by 22%, with 75.7 thousand tons. However, the revenue from imported rice grew slightly by 2.2%. The majority of the exported processed rice was sent to Mexico, a strategic market for Brazilian Rice, a project by Abiarroz and ApexBrasil, aiming to boost Brazilian rice exports. This project also seeks to renew the Package Against Inflation and High Prices, which exempts import tax on basic food items, including Brazilian rice, making it up to 16% cheaper in Mexico. Abiarroz, established in 2009, represents the rice industry's interests and promotes the sustainability of the rice industry through dialogue with government entities and international market development.
