Brazil's rice exports in February saw a significant increase of 65% compared to the same month in 2021, totaling 135.3 thousand tons and valued at over US$ 40 million. Venezuela was the leading buyer, followed by Cuba, Peru, the United States, and Cape Verde. The first two months of 2022 witnessed a trade surplus of around US$ 60 million, a contrast to the deficit of US$ 40 million in the same period of 2021. The Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Arabiarroz) is actively promoting exports to North America through the Brazilian Rice Project and participation in major food fairs like Sial America and Sial Canada.
