Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) has introduced the first Agricultural Zoning of Climate Risk (Zarc) for pineapple cultivation across the country. Developed by Embrapa, the new tool aims to provide producers with the best planting conditions based on scientific and historical data, potentially increasing productivity and reducing risks, especially in vulnerable regions. The tool classifies risk levels associated with fruit development phases and categorizes available soil water classes. Adherence to Zarc’s guidelines is necessary to access public risk management policies. The tool has been updated with weather data going up to 2022 and can be consulted online or through the Zarc Plantio Certo app.
