In 2020, Brazil saw a significant growth in its dairy exports, with cheese and curd exports increasing by over 20% and total dairy product exports, including cream and milk, growing by 26.6%. The main importers of these dairy products were the United States, Venezuela, Chile, Paraguay, the Philippines, and the United Arab Emirates, accounting for 56.7% of the total imports. These countries prioritize traceability and the integration of blockchain technology with dairy products. Additionally, the United Arab Emirates and the Philippines require halal certification, a quality assurance and food safety standard, for products to be allowed for consumption. Omar Chahine, the commercial manager of Cdial Halal, stresses the importance of animal welfare and halal certification for entering and expanding in the global market. He suggests that Brazil's dairy industry could greatly benefit from obtaining halal certification to increase its export opportunities.
