Brazil has achieved another international market opening, this time in Colombia, for the export of bovine blood meal. The sanitary agreement between the two countries was concluded last Friday (31) and represents a new advancement for the Brazilian agribusiness. Bovine blood, processed into meal form, is a high-protein input widely used in the production of animal feed, especially in the poultry, swine, and pet food sectors. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), Colombia has around 52 million inhabitants and more than half of the families have at least one pet—a market with great potential for Brazilian producers. In 2024, Brazil exported $863 million in agricultural products to Colombia, with highlights including paper and cellulose, refined sugar, coffee, and animal feed.
