The European Union countries will now purchase roasted baru nuts from Brazil, announced the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) this Tuesday (8).
Considered a "superfood" for its nutritional properties, the export of this type of nut has growing potential in functional and natural food markets.
"This opening is an important milestone in strengthening Brazilian bioeconomy and valuing products from the cerrado in the international market," says the ministry in a statement.
With over 447 million inhabitants, the European Union is composed of 27 countries and is the second-largest buyer of Brazilian agricultural products. In 2024, the bloc imported more than US$ 23 billion from Brazil, with emphasis on soybeans, coffee, and forest products.
With this announcement, Brazilian agribusiness reaches 389 market openings since the beginning of 2023.
