The phytosanitary negotiations for Brazil to start exporting "in vitro" sugarcane seedlings to Guatemala have been concluded, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) this Friday (8). According to the ministry, in addition to the value added based on scientific research, this market opening opens opportunities for the Brazilian private sector, enabling new partnerships in the area of biotechnology, consulting, and technical assistance. In 2024, Brazil exported around US$ 249 million in agricultural products to the Central American country, with a focus on cereals, oilseeds (excluding soybeans), and forestry products.
