Brazilian coffee exports fall by 17.5% in volume, but increase in revenue

Brazil exported 3,144 million 60 kg bags of all types of coffee in August 2025, a 17.5% drop compared to the 3,813 million bags of the same month last year, according to the monthly statistical report from the Brazilian Coffee Exporters' Council (Cecafé). Foreign exchange revenue, meanwhile, grew 12.7% in the same comparative period, jumping to US$ 1.101 billion. The drop in the amount shipped was expected, as assessed by the entity's president, Márcio Ferreira, due to the country coming off record exports in 2024 and having less coffee available due to a crop that fell short of its maximum productive potential. He also comments that the 50% tariff imposed by the government of Donald Trump on Brazilian coffee to be exported to the United States intensified this reduction.
