Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture Updates List of Countries Fully Exempt from Chicken Meat Import Restrictions to 16

The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) has updated the list of countries and regions with restrictions on Brazilian poultry meat imports due to a highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreak in May in the municipality of Black Mountain in Rio Grande do Sul state. Countries with complete import restrictions lifted: Algeria, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, El Salvador, Iraq, Lesotho, Libya, Morocco, Myanmar, Montenegro, Paraguay, Dominican Republic, Sri Lanka, Vanuatu, and Vietnam have removed export restrictions on Brazilian chicken. Suspension limited to specific regions: Hong Kong, Mauritius, New Caledonia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Singapore, Suriname, and Uzbekistan. The recognition of specific regions is called regionalization, following the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) Terrestrial Animal Health Code and the World Trade Organization (WTO) Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures Agreement.
