The Brazilian Special Coffees Association (BSCA) celebrates the removal of the total tariffs – 10% of the base tariff + an additional 40% – on special coffees from Brazil to be imported by the United States, as per the Executive Order signed yesterday, November 20, by American President Donald Trump. This new order corrects the distortion created by the tariffs between the main coffee buyer and consumer market, the USA, and the main global producer and exporter, Brazil. From now on, the trend is for the normal flow of trade in special coffees between the nations to be reestablished, which had been severely impacted by the distortions created by the tariffs. As an example, from August to October – the three months of the tariff hike – shipments of special coffees from Brazil to the USA, the main importer market for this national product, fell by about 55%, from 412 thousand 60 kg bags in the same period of 2024 to the current 190 thousand bags.
